Dad of ‘Success Kid’ Is in Dire Need of a Kidney Transplant — Here’s How You Can Help

Success Kid
Laney Griner

One of the internet’s biggest stars needs your help.

You know Sammy Griner as the star of the ‘Success Kid’ meme.

His dad, 39-year-old Justin Griner, now needs a new kidney and his son’s fame is helping word spread.

The family has started a GoFundMe page to help raise funds needed for a transplant.

Justin learned his kidneys were not healthy before Sammy was even born and he now goes for dialysis four hours for three days a week. However, his wife, Laney, says the more time he undergoes dialysis the greater the risk to his health.

Six years on dialysis is getting to be a long time. It’s wearing on him…I just want to get him healthy.”

The family has quickly passed the $20,000 mark without mentioning the Success Kid meme, although Laney admits it has helped.

The photo of Sammy, by the way, was taken when he was 11 months old. He’s now eight.

The GoFundMe page was created to Justin find a donor and help for care beyond any procedure, with drugs for the first year expected to reach a cost of $12,000.
