Couple Who No-Showed at Wedding Billed for Their Meal

Ingram Publishing

It’s time to pay up.

A couple from Golden Valley, Minn. that never showed up for a wedding after their babysitter canceled at the last minute received a bill for the meal they never ate.

Jessica Baker says her mother, who was supposed to look after her kids, had a last-minute emergency and had to bail on the job. The invitation specified no kids, so Baker and her hubby never showed.

Fast forward a few weeks when Jessica said she and her husband got a bill for $75.90:

You’ve got to be kidding me. It listed, we would have had two herb crusted walleye and there was also a service and tax charge.”

The bill also asked for an explanation for why they didn’t make the wedding:

Jessica threw the bill away and will not pay it. She’s still miffed as to what action she could’ve taken. “I guess I don’t know what the right answer would have been. What the right thing to do would have been,” she said.

Good question. What could they have done? Defy the invitation and bring the kids? Call a service or a neighbor? Or perhaps only one person should’ve gone while the other remained home with the kids. And should they pay the bill?
