70 Years Later, Class of 1943 Is Finally Having Their Prom

It took some time (quite a bit of time, actually), but the New Haven Hillhouse High School class of 1943 will finally be having prom this Sunday.

The cancellation was just one of many “pleasure bans” Americans endured during World War II. Alumni are hoping at least 70 people will show up for this dance, which was 70 years in the making. “We’ll make it romantic,” says graduate Catherine “Honey” Pegnataro. “We’ll make it that way.”
