Chumbawamba, everyone's favorite one-hit wonder from the 90s who scored with the massively popular single 'Tubthumping,' has broken up after 30 years together. After getting knocked down, the band won't be getting up again.

"That’s it then, it’s the end. with neither a whimper, a bang or a reunion. Thirty years of ideas and melodies, endless meetings and European tours, press releases, singalong choruses and Dada sound poetry, finally at an end," read a statement on the band's website.

The statement goes on to say that the band "couldn't keep up" with writing, recording and touring, but says it's proud of its anarchist origins.

"Chumbawamba was our vehicle for pointing at the naked Emperors, for telling our version of the truth; it gave us more than the joy and love of playing live, writing songs and singing together – it gave us a chance to be part of a broad coalition of activists and hectors, optimists and questioners," the statement read.

The band won't simply disappear, however. They'll play a handful of shows between now and the end of the year, after which they'll formally disband. Still, the statement says, they reserve the right to re-emerge sometime in the future "as Chumbawamba doing something else entirely" although they admit "that's not very likely."
