8 Movie Remakes That Are Probably Coming
‘The Thing.’ ‘The Karate Kid.’ ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.’ All movies that we know and loved that got–or are getting–revamps, remakes and reboots thanks to Hollywood’s obsession with youth culture and movie audience’s short attention span/nostalgia obsession.
Some are good. Some are insanely awful. This got us wondering what else might come our way…again. Take a look at a few potential reboots of your favorite childhood flicks.
'Cop and a Half'
She's an Oscar darling, he's already an iconic tough guy thanks to 'Warrior' and 'The Dark Knight Rises.' Isn't this pairing inevitable?
'The Breakfast Club'
With all the '80s remakes a-brewin', you know this is an eventuality. But who would play the principal? Eugene Levy, probably. He'll say yes to anything.
Outside of 'Twilight' Taylor Lautner's struggled at the box office. Maybe it's because he's just a very niche performer.
'Raiders of the Lost Ark'
He rebooted 'Star Trek' with aplomb. And since Shia LaBeouf proved to be a lackluster successor to Harrison Ford in 'Kingdom of the Crystal Skull,' who better than Chris Pine to restart this franchise? (Why not bring Zoe Saldana in as a love interest while we're at it?)
He's already taking on the 'Bourne' franchise, 'The Avengers' and 'Mission Impossible.' Why not another already-established grandiose actioneer? He could handle it. You know it's true.
'Romy and Michele's High School Reunion'
One Oscar-nominated actress with comedic skills. Check. One TV comedienne who deserves a lead role in a movie. Double check! We love the original ("I'm the Mary!"), but this is just a license to print money. You're welcome, Hollywood.
Yes, it was the itty bitty pixie haircut that made us think of this. But actually, Williams would be incredible at the heart of a horror movie, especially one where her sweetness would be so willfully taken advantage of.
With Chloe Moretz, Abigail Breslin and Stacey Dash reprising her role because she does not age. To keep with the fun fashions and lack of texting, it would need to be a period piece. Obvi.
