Here's one more point against Mitt Romney -- the streets this Halloween are going to be flooded with women in "sexy" Big Bird costumes, thanks to his comments at the recent presidential debate.
As Halloween draws near, shut the lights off, grab your pet, a well-worn blanket, and curl up to read about some of the most spine-tingling and frightening places on Earth. As the ghost stories of each place draw you in, be aware of that disembodied footstep or strange rapping noise-it may just be a spirit trying to reach out to you!
There are tons of things we love about America. Our grand ole’ country cranks out hysterical, nightmare-inducing shows about mini pageant queens and we throw Big Bird into the political scene, for example. But our recent discovery tops them all-- ladies and gentlemen, we live in the presence of the most recent world champion pumpkin grower.
One of our new favorite things about Halloween is funny, candid pictures of people being scared senseless in a haunted house. We had to ask ourselves though, what were they seeing that was so scary? We put our heads together, and we think we've figured it out. Here are our guesses at what was so scary in that haunted house. Because it certainly wasn't a guy in a wolf mask jumping out of nowhere.
Basically once Labor Day has passed, we spend our time gearing up for Halloween, which means apple cider, carving pumpkins, and loads and loads of terrible scary movies. The only problem is that there are bad scary movies and then there are *bad* scary movies, and the only way to tell the difference between the two usually involves sacrificing 40 minutes or so of your life.
There are dozens of things we love about Halloween, like spooking our friends and sugar comas galore. But what tops our list is we can disguise ourselves (and our kids) in everything from the totally confusing to the aww-worthy, and no one bats an eyelash over it. (Ok, we did get a little weirded out by that 'Potato Jesus', but that's besides the point.)
Wheelchair-bound little tykes such as our favorite ice cream trucker Carter might not be jumping a broomstick this Halloween season, because this just in: TIE fighters get more candy.

It’s that time of year again when we apologize to our pancreas and then eat until we're sick -- Halloween candy season! Everywhere we turn, we’re bombarded with chocolate and gummies and sour things and those peanut butter taffies in the wax paper wrapping that no one ever eats. Somehow those things have survived the ages but our favorites have gone by the wayside. It’s bittersweet heaven on earth.
