Slothfulness seems to be running rampant in the animal kingdom. First we noted this lazy polar bear scratching himself while laying half-asleep on a bed of kelp. And now an uncouth elephant seal lets loose with a prolonged mega belch that's guaranteed to rattle your computer speakers.
Over the weekend 50 dogs took part in the seventh annual Loews' Surf Dog competition. We've known dogs love to surf ever since the days of Spuds Mackenzie, but to see that many canines getting together to "hang ten" was quite a sight.

Beware the dangers of the den of kittens!
A stranded young grey humpback whale was spotted by locals on White Rock beach in British Columbia. As news spread, hundreds of people gathered on the beach south of Vancouver to try to help the whale washed up on shore. Sadly, their efforts in pouring buckets of water could not help the humpback. After nearly two hours, the whale died.
