Caring Army Ranger Buys Dinner for 2 Hungry Boys

Subscribe to TheFW on

Home or away, soldiers are always looking out for others.

Lt. Col. Robert Risdon Jr., a U.S. Army Ranger, has found himself a viral star after someone captured him on video buying Taco Bell for two hungry brothers in Mobile, Ala.

The boys had stopped into the eatery to peddle some homemade baked items and asked Gibson if he wanted any. He didn’t have any cash on him and asked the kids, ages 9 and 12, if they were hungry. When they said they were, Risdon offered to buy them dinner.

As Risdon explained to ABC:

It seemed like a very small gesture I could do for two kids that were trying to make some money in the rain on a school night. So, absolutely it was my duty to at least get them something to eat.”

The boys were certainly in awe of Risdon. After he bought them dinner, one of  them told him, “You know, I want to be just like you some day” and then saluted him.

As for all the attention he’s gotten, Risdon told The Huffington Post, “I’m kinda embarrassed and humbled by the praise and don’t need it. I am a believer that we live in the best country in the world with the best people and that acts of kindness happen every day.”
