Caring 5-Year-Old Feeds Hungry Homeless Man in Restaurant

He may only be a 5-year-old, but this youngster can teach us all a thing or two about compassion.

Josiah Duncan insisted his mother buy a meal for a homeless man who had walked into a Prattville, Ala., Waffle House where they were eating a few weeks ago.

Josiah’s mother, Ava Faulk, had to explain to Josiah that the man didn’t have a home. She says that didn’t deter her son from making sure the man would eat:

He came in and sat down, and nobody really waited on him. So Josiah jumped up and asked him if he needed a menu because you can’t order without one.”

The man ordered a burger with bacon, but before he could sink his teeth into it, Josiah made them say a prayer, while the nearly dozen other customers in the restaurant looked on in yet another instance of a hungry man getting more attention that he ever could have imagined.

Faulk said the scene left everyone in tears and left her in awe of her own son. “Watching my son touch the 11 people in that Waffle House tonight will be forever one of the greatest accomplishments as a parent I’ll ever get to witness,” she said.
