Burly Gym Teacher Claims 6-Year-Old Beat Him Up
John Webster is 5’10, 210 pounds and used to play college football. Rodrigo Carpio weighs 50 pounds and is six-years-old. Yet Webster, a gym teacher at a Queens, New York elementary school, claims Carpio beat him up.
“It’s very humiliating and defaming, but at the same time, it’s true,” Webster said.
Apparently the assault took place while Webster was escorting Carpio to the cafeteria. The youngster became rowdy in the stairwell and when Webster tried to restrain him the first grader went to town.
“He was very strong. He was using the heel of his feet to kick me in my leg,” Webster explained. “He spun around and belted me in the right knee and I heard a pop to my knee at that time.”
According to Webster, he suffered a broken ankle and an injured knee that required surgery. He hasn’t been able to work since, and has been seeing a psychiatrist to deal with the mental anguish of being beaten up by a little kid.
Webster is now suing the New York City Department of Education for his medical expenses in addition to damages. His lawyer plans on arguing the school knew Carpio was a tiny, violent terror, but did nothing to rein him in.
Carpio’s mom vehemently denies that her son assaulted Webster. However, when CBS 2 asked the six-year-old what had happened, he sang a different sort of tune. ’I don’t know. I don’t remember,” he said ominously.
