Boy Fighting Cancer (Again) Named Honorary Navy SEAL

Here’s a reminder that giving is so much more powerful than receiving.

B.J. Correll, a 14-year-old boy from North Carolina fighting leukemia for the second time in his life, has been chosen as an honorary Navy SEAL. B.J. first battled leukemia in 2012, but it returned again this past May.

B.J.’s mother says her son has wanted to become a SEAL since he worked on a middle school project.

Stephen Brown, who’s with SEAL Swim Charities, says B.J. is well-deserving of the honor:

He shows the character of what a SEAL would be like. He’s very strong. He has gone through so much. So much pain, just not physically but mentally. And he stayed strong through it.”

His teary-eyed mother was touched by the gesture, too, saying, “It took my breath away. He’s having a hard time right now. We are on our last option… It was amazing for him to already have what he’s wanted to do for his life.”

B.J.’s family has set up a GoFundMe page where you can help them pay his medical costs.
