Nerds love this robot. The rest of us love setting this robot to some music.

This isn't a special effect. Instead it's the first truly effective bipedal robot, built by Boston Dynamics and DARPA, the US military's mad science initiative. It's actually part of a project to create robot soldiers to fight on the battlefield, keeping our troops safely out of harm's way and also allowing the rest of us to make all sorts of Terminator jokes.

It's also most difficult than it looks. Walking is essentially a form of controlled falling, and it's taken decades of robotics research to figure out how to get a robot to walk like a human being.

We're guessing it took roughly an hour to set this video of human achievement to a goofy '70s hit. But hey, it's still funny.
