When you invite Bill Murray to participate in your sporting event, you can probably expect something wacky to happen. Which is why the funnyman is the star every year at the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am golf tournament.

Beyond the links, Murray is a dedicated Chicago Cubs fan. So he was a natural pick to throw out this season's first pitch at Wrigley Field.

In case you don't follow baseball, running the bases is not part of the first pitch tradition. And run them he did. Between second and third it looked like the 61-year-old was going to drop dead of exhaustion, which would put a real damper on any talk of 'Ghostbusters 3'.

But, thankfully, he made it home. Although his slide is not one that should ever be imitated.

Murray even had enough left in the tank to make the first pitch. Given the Cubs' prospects in 2012, it was probably the most excitement the folks at Wrigley are going to see this year.
