There has been a lot of buzz about the upcoming 'Battleship' movie, staring Liam Neeson, and the 60 second trailer that aired during the 2012 Super Bowl has certainly helped to add to the hype.

Sure, alien movies are to Hollywood what cat videos are to the internet. But this one has an interesting twist in that the 'aliens' haven't arrived from outer space, but seem to have emerged from the depths of our ocean here on Earth.

These creatures from the deep don't seem to be your typical man-eating squid either. They look more like highly advanced humanoids equipped with battle armor and car-smashing vehicles that look sort of like massive spinning turbines.

While this movie has potential (because Liam Neeson is in it), the CGI is sort of reminiscent of the 'Transformers' movies, with loads of explosions and more metal smashing against metal than you'll ever see at even the most destructive demolition derby. It looks about as visually stimulating as a Michael Bay film on hallucinogenic drugs. Luckily for Universal Studios (and Michael Bay) there's a large target demographic for movies like this. We just hope there will be a decent plot to go with all of that eye candy.
