See the Cast of ‘Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery’ Then and Now

Austin Powers
New Line

The 1997 comedy ‘Austin Powers: International Man Of Mystery’ was a box office smash before becoming a comedy classic, despite the fact that millions of Americans are now embarrassed that they used to say ‘shagadelic, baby!’ in mixed company.

Spoofing the spy genre — mostly the James Bond franchise — the film featured quite a few memorable scenes and spawned two even more successful sequels, with a third reportedly in the works.

See what the cast of ‘Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery’ are up to these days below.

Mike Myers, Austin Powers / Dr. Evil

Then: Mike Myers was quite the sensation as both the protagonist and antagonist ‘Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery.’ The former ‘Saturday Night Live’ player was no stranger to movie success, having previously scored big with ‘Wayne’s World‘ and ‘Wayne’s World 2.’

Now: Myers has been quiet lately, with his last non-’Shrek’-related role as a supporting character in 2009′s ‘Inglourious Basterds.’ Rumor has it he’s been putting together a fourth Austin Powers outing, however all’s quiet on the ‘Wayne’s World 3′ front.

Elizabeth Hurley, Vanessa Kensington

Then: In what stands as the pinnacle of her acting career (assuming you didn’t like the remake of ‘Bedazzled’), Hurley was Vanessa Kensington in ‘Austin Powers.’ At the time, she was also famous for dating Hugh Grant and being the face of Estee Lauder.

Now: Before doing an arc on ‘Gossip Girls’ as Diana Payne, Hurley hadn’t had much screen presence since reprising her Kensington character in ‘Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me.’ She is slated to appear in the upcoming thriller ‘High Midnight.’

Michael York, Basil Exposition

Then: In a role that parodies M of the ‘James Bond’ franchise, York plays intelligence agent Basil Exposition. Before ‘Austin Powers,’ York was probably best known for starring in the 1976 sci-fi film ‘Logan’s Run’ and for playing Brian Roberts in the film version of ‘Cabaret.’

Now: York has been recently seen on an episode of ‘How I Met Your Mother’ and in ‘Flatland 2: Sphereland.’

Robert Wagner, Number Two

Then: Dr. Evil’s second-in-command, appropriately named Number 2, was played by Robert Wagner. The veteran actor was known for his roles in the TV series ‘Hart to Hart’ and ‘To Catch A Thief.’

Now: The 83-year-old is recurring character Anthony DiNozzo, Sr. on ‘NCIS.’ He will star alongside his adopted daughter Natasha Gregson Wagner in the upcoming movie ‘Thirty Nine’ and is apparently starring in something called ‘The Hungover Games.’

Mimi Rogers, Mrs. Kensington

Then: The role of Mrs. Kensington, Austin’s pre-freeze partner and Vanessa’s mother, went to Mimi Rogers. Rogers came into prominence in the early ’90s thanks to critically acclaimed turns in ‘Desperate Hours’ and ‘The Rapture.’ She was married to Tom Cruise between 1987 and 1989.

Now: Rogers can be seen as recurring character Robin on ‘Two and a Half Men.’ She also recently did an episode of ‘The Client List’ and will be in the movie ‘Mall.’

Seth Green, Scott Evil

Then: You surely remember Seth Green as snarky son Scott Evil in ‘Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery,’ a role he reprised in the two sequels. The former child actor (‘The Hotel New Hampshire,’ ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’) also starred on the TV show ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer.’

Now: Seth Green is a busy man. In addition to his voice work on ‘Family Guy’ and ‘Robot Chicken,’ which he co-created, he’s guest-starred on shows like ‘How I Met Your Mother’ and ‘Franklin and Bash.’ The 39-year-old is set to be one of the leads in the new Seth MacFarlane sitcom ‘Dads.’

Mindy Sterling, Frau Farbissina

Then: Frau Farbissina, Dr. Evil’s henchwoman and mother to his child, was portrayed by Mindy Sterling. It was her biggest role to date, having previously guested on shows like ‘Family Matters’ and ‘Saved By The Bell: The College Years.’

Now: Lately, Sterling has been known for her work on the kid’s shows ‘iCarly’ and ‘A.N.T. Farm.’ She is currently on the sitcom ‘Legit.’

Fabiana Udenio, Alotta Fagina

Then: Alotta Fagina, Number 2′s secretary and seducer of Austin Powers, was played Fabiana Udenio. The former Miss Teen Italy’s first big American role was an exchange student in the 1987 Mark Harmon comedy CLASSIC ‘Summer School.’ After ‘Austin Powers,’ she was cast in the TV series ‘Amazon.’

Now: Udenio was last seen as recurring character Atoosa Shirazi on ’90210′ and in an episode of ‘Mistresses.’

Paul Dillon, Patty O’Brien

Then: Patty O’Brien,’ Dr. Evil’s assassin who has a memorable encounter with Powers in the bathroom,’ was the work of Paul Dillon. That same year Dillon starred in the movie ‘Chicago Cab.’ He made his film debut three years earlier in the thriller ‘Blink.’

Now: Dillon had a small role in 2012′s ‘On The Road.’ He can also be seen in the comedy ‘Laps.’

Will Ferrell, Mustafa

Then: Will Ferrell was Dr. Evil’s dimwitted but unusually hard to kill henchman Mustafa. It was the first major film role for Ferrell, who started on ‘Saturday Night Live’ in 1995, the last year for Myers. Of course, the funnyman went on to bigger things in movies like ‘Old School,’ ‘Elf‘ and ‘Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy.’

Now: Recent Ferrell movies include ‘The Campaign’ and ‘Casa De Mi Padre,’ with ‘Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues‘ slated for a December 2013 release. Ferrell is the co-founder of the web comedy site ‘Funny or Die.’
