Dogs really are man's best friends. They’re adorable and they look out for us humans when things go awry. Recently we’ve met the German Shepherd who found a missing doctor, a Chihuahua who sniffed out two lost girls, and now, the rescue dog who saved a baby’s life.

Duke was rescued by the Brousseau family six years ago, and he has been a wonderful addition to their family ever since. But this past weekend, the canine proved he’s more than just a sweet pup: he’s also a family hero.

Sunday night, Jenna Brousseau and her husband put their 9-week-old daughter Harper to sleep as as they normally do. Shortly after, Duke came into their room in a bizarre fit of shaking, and the couple instantly knew something wasn’t right. When they checked on Harper, she had stopped breathing. Jenna’s husband immediately called paramedics, who were miraculously able to revive their daughter, and she was taken to the hospital.

Harper is home and doing well, and the Brousseau family has Duke to thank for this. As Jenna explains, “He’s the perfect dog. He was meant to be ours.”
